Oliver Blue
In the midst of a scorching heatwave that engulfed Melbourne for four consecutive days, a moment of serenity and beauty emerged. It was during this time that I captured a photograph that would come to be known as "Oliver Blue" – a limited edition print that captures the essence of those sweltering summer days.
As the heatwave persisted, I found myself at home, observing the shifting weather patterns in the late afternoon. An idea sparked within me – an opportunity to venture out and capture the unique beauty that arises during such extreme conditions.
However, with time slipping away and the sun beginning its descent, I knew I had to act quickly. Instead of embarking on a longer drive down the coast, I made the spontaneous decision to head to Frankston – a decision that would ultimately lead to the creation of "Oliver Blue."
Perched atop Olivers Hill in Frankston, I watched as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm orange glow that illuminated the sky. The reflection of this radiant glow danced upon the tranquil waters, creating a mesmerising display of colours and hues.
It was in this moment that I captured "Oliver Blue" – a photograph that perfectly encapsulates the juxtaposition of warmth and coolness, serenity and intensity. The deep shades of blue that enveloped the sky contrasted beautifully with the fiery hues of the setting sun, creating a scene of unparalleled beauty.
